The reasons people speed are varied: (1) they want to get to their destination quickly (2) they are inattentive while driving and speed with noticing (3) they may have a legitimate purpose such as getting to a hospital due to an emergency e.g. taking a heart attack victim. (4) they enjoy the thrill of speed. (5) they may be trying to evade someone such as police officers. Other reasons are mechanical defects and an improperly calibrated speedometer.

It's like a mini rollercoaster. Don't ask why people like going on rollercoasters.

∙ 12y agoMostly because the people that are driving too fast are prone to accidents and subsequently who ever gets hit by the speeder can also die or worse get permanently disabled. Plus it wastes fuel.
