∙ 15y agoI am a frigure skater and I love it and have a costume. I wear a costume because they are pretty, and show that you are really into it. You don't have to have one but it makes you have more confidence. It shows that you are really good and dedicated.

Ladies (singles/pairs)- a dress, about mid-thigh length.
Men (singles/pairs)- usually pants and a shirt tucked in, but some choose to wear a full bodysuit
Ice Dance- Girls- a dress, length is longer than the singles dress; Men- basically the same as the singles/pairs

∙ 10y agoEvery time there is a serious fall or injury in figure skating that is widely seen or reported, the topic of whether skaters in competition should wear helmets comes up. It seems very unlikely that the International Skating Union will ever require helmets, for almost exclusively aesthetic reasons.
