1) The spark plug/plug wire or cap/coil are failing.

2) Your hi speed jet is clogged, or float isn't functioning all the way

3) The cdi/points depending on bike type needs replaced

Trouble shoot these one at a time and you'll get there.

What is the difference between a motorcycle and a dirt bike?

A motorcylce is a vehicle that is street legal and you can drive on public roads and high ways. A dirt bike is an off-road vehicle used for recreational purposes and/or racing. -tlb Also has the above you do get the trail bikes that have been stripped down for off road use like the old Dt's but to be sure it is not an old trail bike acting as a dirt bike, A proper dirt bike have plastic petrol tanks not metal and the frames are made out of alloy not tubular steel you would need to know this if you were racing your mates on dirt bikes as the dirt bikes can withstand the jumps as the pretend dirt bikes will do the jump bit, but on landing will do considerable damage to the frame which would make it unsafe and dangerous for you and the bike

What is the difference between a motocross and a dirt bike as seem classified in different categories?

That is kind of a tricky question. Dirt bikes encompass any bike that is ridden off road plus what are known as dual sport bikes. Most of the manufacturers categorize their dirt bikes as motocross or off road. Basically "dirt bikes" break down like this; 1) Motocross race bikes and woods race bikes. These are both liquid-cooled bikes with aluminum frames and racing suspension (compression and rebound settings, long travel, etc.), the woods race bikes just have some minor changes such as a wider gear ratio, a heavier fly wheel, bigger tank, lights, softer spring rate, etc. 2) Trail/play bikes. These bikes have air-cooled engines, steel frames and much less suspension than the race bikes. 3) Dual Sport bikes. This category is everything from Woods race bikes with a dual sport kit installed to make them street legal to production dual sport bikes such as the Honda XR650L and BMW 650GS.

The difference between past and present dirt bikes?

Light Years, First dirt bikes were nothing more then stripped down road bikes, late 50's, up to early 70's the bikes were heavy, short travel suspension, and 99% of them were 2 stroke, they had to be on the pipe for power (high rev's). today you have high-tech, light, long travel, 4 strokes, power can be had all the way thru the RPM range.

How do you drive a manual dirt bike?

Well most dirt bikes i have seen the gears are like this 5 4 3 2 N 1 To shift gears on a dirt bike if you have a manual transmission if you are in neutral pull in clutch and go down on shifter then reach top speed in gear 1 and shift up etc... (note: if your dirt bike is slowing down if you shifted up then shift up again)
