I really hate to break this to you and everything... But I'm only 12 years old, and without researching this or anything, I'm just assuming that they were cancelled due to the world wars... Seriously...who'd want to go to the Olympics during a World War?

They weren't. The 1912 Olympics were held as scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden.

The 1916 Olympics, scheduled for Berlin, Germany, were cancelled due to World War I.

The 1916 Games (The Games of the VI Olympiad) were canceled because of World War One. The 1940 and 1944 Games (the Games of the XII and XIII Olympiads) were canceled because of World War Two.
