Ole Miss was months away from getting slapped with the harshest penalities ever imposed upon a school, save the death penalty that SMU received, by the NCAA. Archie being "in the know" advised Peyton to look elsewhere. Some from Ole Miss still have not forgiven Archie, but as a Dad myself, it was the only choice a good father would have made. Archie redeemed himself with Eli signed was the Rebels.
