Fighting is not legal in hockey, however it still happens, but usually not until bantam and highschool. IF a player injures another player in a fight, they receive a match penalty which is a 5 minute major and a 1 game suspension

Definetly hockey is a really good sport but in order from gratest to least it would go a little like this ,soccer,football,basketball,baseball,golf,hockey,tennis.

The best way to discourage kids from getting involved in fights at school is learning them to walk away from nasty situations. Another way to discourage kids from getting involved in fights are giving them house arrest when they do get involved.
According to the Hockey Canada website there are over 500,000 kids of varying ages registered to play hockey in Canada. Of course,there are many more who play hockey in local areas but don't necessarily register with official organizations. For example, there are several dozen kids in my little town who play on the local rink but are not part of Hockey Canada.
