Super Bowl XLVThe Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers slayed the ghost of Brett Favre and won their first Super Bowl under head coach Mike McCarthy when they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 to win Super Bowl XLV.

Super Bowl XLV, the 45th Super Bowl and 41st National Football League championship game, took place February 6, 2011 in Jerry's House, Cowboys Stadium located in Arlington, Texas.

Rodgers capped an incredible playoff run with a victory over Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Rodgers did it with pin point accuracy, picking the Steelers apart in a close and high-scoring affair.

Rodgers threw for three touchdowns and 304 yards to keep the vaunted Steelers defense on their heels all game. Rodgers spread the ball around to his talented receiving corps for the win. Jordy Nelson racked up the most yards for the Packers receivers and scored one touchdown but Greg Jennings scored two touchdowns with just four catches in the game.

The Steelers Ben Roethlisberger threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns but he also gave up two critical interceptions in the loss. "Big Ben" never looked comfortable in the pocket during this game and the Packers kept him off his game for all 60 minutes.

The Packers never surrendered the lead to Pittsburgh after jumping out to a 14-point lead but the Steelers did give the Packers a scare when they got the deficit down to three points with just under eight minutes to play. Noticeably absent during the game was Pittsburgh's heralded defense. Troy Polamalu and James Harrison played a lackluster game for the Steelers and in the end their poor performances contributed to the losing effort.

Super Bowl XLIVThe New Orleans Saints won the first NFL title in franchise history at Super Bowl XLIV, beating the favored Indianapolis Colts 31-17.

Super Bowl XLIV, the 44th Super Bowl and 40th National Football League championship game, took place at Miami's Sun Life Stadium on Feb. 7, 2010.

The game came down to a battle between Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Colts legend Peyton Manning, and Brees won the battle, completing 39 passes for 288 yards with two TDs. His 32 completions are tied for the most in Super Bowl history.

Manning was not bad, either, going 31-for-45 with 333 yards a TD and interception, and becoming the third QB in postseason history to surpass 5,000 postseason passing yards.

New Orleans' first Super Bowl win came 43 years after the Saints played their first game.

The Saints had to come back from a 10-point deficit. With the Colts driving late in the game, Saints cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted a Manning pass to Reggie Wayne with 3:12 remaining and ran it back 74-yards for a touchdown to seal the win.

Super Bowl XLIIISuper Bowl XLIII, the 43rd annual Super Bowl game, pitted the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers against the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals.

The Steelers (15-4) defeated the Cardinals (12-7) by a score of 27-23, earning their sixth Super Bowl win, a new NFL record. It broke three-way, five-win tie among the Steelers, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

The game was played on February 1, 2009, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

From a betting perspective, Pittsburgh was a 7-point favorite. While the Steelers won "straight up" the Cardinals covered the point spread, losing by just four points.

Arizona entered the game looking for their first NFL championship since 1947, the longest championship drought in the league. Pittsburgh outgained Arizona 158 to 102 yards in the first half of Super Bowl XLIII, jumping to a 17-7 lead at halftime. However, Arizona scored 16 unanswered points in the 4th quarter, to take the lead with 2:37 remaining in the game. But then the Steelers marched 78-yards to score with 35 seconds left. Receiver Santonio Holmes, who caught the winning TD pass, was named Super Bowl MVP.

The game was watched by approximately 98.7 million Americans, making it the most-watched Super Bowl in history.

SUPERBOWL XLIINew York Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to receiver Plaxico Burress with 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lead the Giants to one of the greatest upsets in Super Bowl history, a 17-14 win over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots. New York (14-6) came into Super Bowl XLII as 12-point underdogs, but won the Vince Lombardi Trophy as NFL champions for the first time since the 1990 season.

New York's win prevented the Patriots from going 19-0 (regular season plus playoffs) and preserved the 1972 Miami Dolphins' record of being the only team in NFL history to finish unbeaten and untied on the way to winning the Super Bowl. After New York went ahead 17-14 late in the game, New England quarterback Tom Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP and the league's reigning regular season MVP, wasn't able to move the Pats in the final seconds. Manning finished the game completing 19-of-34 passes for 255 yards and was picked off once. He was named Super Bowl XLII MVP.

Brady connected on 29-of-48 passes for 266 yards, while Wes Welker tied a Super Bowl record with 11 receptions, totaling 103 yards. The championship title was the third in Giants' history, having won previously in 1986 and 1990.

SUPERBOWL XLIOn Feb. 4, 2007, QB Peyton Manning led the Indianapolis Colts to a 29-17 win over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI at Miami's Dolphin Stadium. Manning, who hit 25 of 38 passes for 247 yards with one touchdown and one interception, was named Super Bowl MVP in the rain-soaked NFL championship. Colts' coach Tony Dungy became the first African-American head coach to win a Super Bowl, beating good friend and protégé Lovie Smith in a game that featured the first two black coaches in Super Bowl history. The game began decidedly in favor of the Bears, as the opening kickoff was run back 92 yards for a touchdown by Bears' rookie Devin Hester. The first half was marred by six turnovers, three for each team. The Colts led 16-14 at halftime, and picked up a field goal in the third quarter. With 11:44 remaining in the fourth quarter, Bears' quarterback Rex Grossman's wobbly pass was picked off and returned 56 yards for a touchdown by the Colts' Kelvin Hayden, sealing the win.

What was the Super Bowl game called before the Super Bowl?

Prior to 1967, there was only an NFL Championship between the division winners. When the American Football League agreed to merge with the NFL by 1970, the four interim inter-league games were called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. By the third game in 1969, the term Super Bowl had been adopted, and Super Bowl IV was the last of the interim AFL-NFL games. The names of the first two games were retroactively made Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II.With the completion of the merger in 1970, Super Bowl V (1971) was played between the winners of the two newly-created conferences, the American and National conferences, roughly analogous to the two original leagues, but with some NFL teams having moved to the AFC, including the winners of the game, the Baltimore Colts (who had lost Super Bowl III representing the NFL).
