#11 for the White Sox was retired after the 1984 season in honor of shortstop Luis Aparicio when he was elected to the Hall of Fame. Aparicio wore the number for the Sox between 1956-1962 and 1968-1970.

The first player for the White Sox to wear #11 was pitcher Orval Grove for part of the 1940 season. Others that wore the number were pitcher Luis Aloma in 1953, catcher Clint Courtney in 1955, outfielder Dave Nicholson between 1963-1965, second baseman Jerry Adair between 1966-1967, catcher Chuck Brinkman between 1971-1974, utilityman Jerry Moses in 1975, catcher Jim Essian between 1976-1977, shortstop Don Kessinger between 1978-1979, infielder Greg Pryor between 1980-1981, and outfielder Rudy Law between 1982-1984.
