On May 5, 2007 Julio Franco hit a home run off of Randy Johnson of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He broke his own record, set last year, as the oldest MLB player to hit a home run. Franco is reported to have been born August 23, 1958. This would have made him 48 years, 255 days old when he hit the home run off of Johnson.

The oldest MLB player to ever hit a homerun was Julio Franco. His first record was made at Petco Park in California against the Padres. When he made this record, he was 47 years old. (i know all of this cuz i was there) The year after that when he was 48, he hit another homerun. I dont know where this was though. Julio Franco made both of these record breaking homeruns while he was on the New York Mets.

Mickey Mantle's "longest home run" of September 10, 1960, was measured at 643 feet after the ball stopped rolling. The longest measured home run in MLB measured where it first hit the ground was by Babe Ruth on July 18, 1921, at 575 feet. Geoff Long hit one at the first Busch Stadium (Sportsman's Park) in St. Louis that cleared the left field light tower. Reggie Jackson hit one that bounced off a light tower in Detroit. Dave Nicholson hit a home run that cleared the roof and an alley before landing on a softball field near Comiskey Park.
