The Washington Redskins actually began in 1932 as the Boston Braves. They played their first game on October 2, 1932, against the Brooklyn Dodgers (who later became the Brooklyn Tigers, then eventually merged with the Boston Yanks) and lost 14-0. In 1933, they were renamed the Boston Redskins, and in 1937 they moved to Washington D.C. and became the Washington Redskins. On September 16, 1937, in their first game as the Washington Redskins, they played the New York Giants and won 13-3.
