There were gymnasts waaaay back in Greece. There was no "first" gymnast. A guy would jump over a horse (a REAL horse!), and then someone else would say, I could do that better! And so the sport began. For a long time, no girls did gymnastics. The guys used to do it naked way back when...

∙ 13y agoThe origin of gymnastics as a sport are sketchy at best. Greek Olympic records are pre-dated by Chinese history telling of the common people getting to be more powerful than the ruling class, so Martial Arts were outlawed for the commoners. They created gymnastics and Tai chi as ways to stay fit while NOT fighting.
