David "Sweeney" Schriner (November 30, 1911 - July 4, 1990) was a Canadian professional hockey forward who played 11 seasons in the National Hockey League for the New York Americans and Toronto Maple Leafs. Born in Saratov, Russia, Sweeney was the NHL scoring leader in 1935-36 and 1936-37. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1935. He won 2 Stanley Cups with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1941-42 and 1944-45. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.
