If both boxers were boxing in their prime, mike Tyson would win because of his great defensive techniques and his outstanding power.

mike Tyson does have incredible power, but ali has rediculous speed... that fight would be like the clash of the titans... its like an unstopable force (ali) meeting an imovable object (Tyson) Tyson rule

First of all, Tyson is much underrated. He destroyed his career cause of drug addicts, bad publicity, his bulldog mind and time at the prison. So we would have to look at Tyson at his prime, even though he never reached his ultimate prime, there was much more potential.

Second, I think that Muhammad Ali is an overrated boxer. He was fast and could take hard punches, but his punches for example, were horrible. Sugar Ray Robinson or Joe Louis for example were much better fighters, according to me. Ok ok ok, some people would make a reference here to the "Phantom Punch", but until today many people think that the fight against Sonny Liston was fixed.

Third, Joe Frazier beat Ali once, even though he was a worse boxer than Tyson(he was much slower, less powerfull and less aggressive). Plus Frazier lost to George Foreman, who was very similar in boxing style and strenght than Tyson was.

Fourth, they generated a computer fight in 1969 between Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali, where Marciano would have won. But Marciano was a worse boxer than Tyson, because Tyson was faster, stronger, had better technique and heavier than Marciano. Plus Marciano beat Joe Louis, who I think was a better boxer than Muhammad Ali.

Fifth, but Ali could beat George Foreman, which I think was a puncher as hard as Tyson at his prime. So I would say, Ali and Tyson were great fighters, but in different abilities. Tyson was extremely strong, hard, aggressive, had great offensive and defensive abilities and was also fast. Ali had extreme speed, one of the best footwork ever, high condition, could destroy his enemy with psychological tricks and could stand very hard punches. When both have fought against each other in their primes, I don't know who would have won. Both would have had big chance to bring the other down.

Because of points 1 to 4 I would say, that Tyson would have won a fight in their primes, but he could only beat Ali, when he would have knocked him down in one of the first three rounds, otherwise he wouldn't have had a chance to beat Ali. But Tyson was famous for beating his enemys in the first round. But that's just my opinion. By the way, Ali and Tyson met in a TV show during the 80s and Ali said about Tyson that he is scared about him and the interviewer asked Ali what he thinks about Tyson and if he could have beaten Ali. Ali said that Tyson is a great boxer and when Tysons hard punches would have brought him in serious troubles during the fight.

Is mike Tyson harder than muhammad Ali at boxing?

Mike Tyson and Mohammad Ali were from two different boxing eras. But if you're asking who was the better all around fighter, then we would have to give the nod to Mohammad Ali. In a bout between these two, each at their peak; Ali would have nullified Tyson's knockout punching power and being the better technician, he would have beaten him on points.

ali retired in 1981, and Tyson turned pro in '85 but if they had fought in their respective primes, i believe ali would have been too much for iron mike.

When did Mike Tyson fight Muhammad ALI?

No. There is great debate in the boxing community whether Ali or Tyson would win a bout. I would guess at each of their primes, Ali would win. Ali would win because he can move around and tire out Tyson. FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY STING LIKE A BEE
