Soccer was played in Croke Park during the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road, between 2007 and 2010. Normally just Gaelic Football and Hurling are played in Croke Park.

From 1884 in what was later to become known as Croke Park in 1913, Gaelic Football and Hurling were played. Before 1913 it was known a the City and Surburban Racecourse and "Jones Road" sports ground.

It is named after Michael Hogan, a Gaelic Football player from Tipperary. He was shot in Croke Park while playing a match there on Sunday the 21st of November 1920. He was one of 13 people shot dead in Croke Park that day, but the only player to die. The day became known as Bloody Sunday.
