The man who made the match winning run in the ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup final was fittingly the winning captain, MS Dhoni. He made the winning run by sending a massive six down the ground. Yuvraj Singh (man of the tournament) was his current batting partner at the time. The bowler was Sri Lanka's Nuwan Kulasekara. This occurred on the second ball of the 49th over (48.2 overs).
It was a special effort from Dhoni in particular, who had played an outstanding captain's knock of 91 not out, (his previous world cup high score was 34) and Gautam Gambhir helped the cause greatly with a fluent innings of 97.
