I assume you mean NHL rookie? Defenseman Cornelius (Connie) Madigan was 38 when he was called up from the minors by the St. Louis Blues on Feb.1/73. He played 20 regular season games and 5 playoff games for the Blues that season but was back in the minors next season where he finished his career.

β 15y agoIn late 1973 the St. Louis Blues defense was decimated by injuries. They had all but used every defenseman in their minor league system. So they acquired the rights to Connie Madigan from the Portland Buckaroos and promptly called him up to St. Louis. Madigan was 38 at the time and when he suited up for the Blues he became the oldest rookie in NHL history.

There are no educational requirements for becoming a professional hockey player. However, tons of training goes into becoming a professional hockey player. You likely would have to play hockey your entire life, practicing nearly every day. You have to not only be the best at the sport but have great strength and stamina. You would have to do cross-training to get these skills.
