The current coach of the Washington Redskins is Mike Shanahan. He was hired on January 6th, 2010 to a five-year contract that made him executive vice president and head coach for the Washington Redskins. Shanahan's contract is worth approximately $7 million a year. Shanahan won two Super Bowls in 14 seasons with the Denver Broncos before joining the Redskins. He was fired by the Broncos after Denver missed the playoffs for three straight seasons. Shanahan also hired his son, Kyle Shanahan, to be the Redskins' offensive coordinator.

There is no quarterbacks coach for the Washington Redskins in 2008. Those duties have been assumed by head coach Jim Zorn.

Chris Meidt only lost one game in his high school career for the Minneota Vikings at

Quarterback.

St. Olaf football coach Chris Meidt, who led one of the top offenses in small-College Football in recent seasons, has resigned to take an assistant coaching job with the NFL's Washington Redskins. Meidt was tapped by new Redskins coach Jim Zorn, a longtime friend of Meidt's since their days as assistant football coaches in Minnesota, Meidt at Bethel University in Arden Hills and Zorn at the University of Minnesota. The two share a strong Christian faith and developed a friendship working together at coaching clinics, Meidt said. "Jim was with the Gophers in the 1990s, right when I was coming into coaching, so I got to know him at that time and we've stayed connected," Meidt said Monday night. "He's been a resource and a mentor for me." He added, with a laugh: "I never thought it would be parlayed into a chance like this." Meidt said he would be working directly under Zorn as an offensive assistant, mostly with quarterbacks, and planned to join the team Thursday. Zorn, named head coach Saturday, has yet to hire an offensive coordinator. In six seasons at St. Olaf, an NCAA Division III school in Northfield, Meidt took a program that had struggled for two decades and helped to turn it into one of the best in the MIAC. The Oles went 40-20 under Meidt, and last season's squad set school records for points scored per game (49.0) and total offense per game (512.8 yards). The Oles were 8-2 each of the last three seasons. Meidt said he wouldn't have left St. Olaf for any other college coaching job but couldn't pass up the chance to coach at the highest level. "The opportunity at St. Olaf has been incredible for me, personally, and for my family. It's a place made up of wonderful people and faculty and kids," he said. Of the NFL job, he said: "I'm just thrilled, it's a great opportunity and it came only through the Lord's will." Meidt was one of the most storied prep quarterbacks in Minnesota history when he graduated from tiny Minneota High School in southwestern Minnesota. Playing for his father, Gerhard, Chris Meidt led Minneota to state Class C championships in 1986 and 1987 and set national career passing records for attempts (1,122), completions (646) and touchdown passes (101). He played college football at Bethel and worked as the offensive coordinator at Columbia Heights High School and Becker High School before returning to his alma mater as an assistant. Steve Spurrier. Washington posted a 12-20 record in those two years and Spurrier was fired. He later went on to coach the University of South Carolina football team, where he has been coaching since 2005.
