Waugh, from NSW, was one of Australia's longest-serving captains, and a prolific run-scorer batting in the middle order. He made his debut for Australia in 1985, took over as Test captain in 1999, and retired in 2004. Waugh was a veteran of 325 one-day internationals and 168 Tests.
