There is a myth that Gordon Strachan never scored a hat trick in his professional career. This is because after an obscure Irish indie band, The Hitchers, released a song called "Strachan" - which included the concept of a Strachan hat trick in the lyrics - allegedly the player himself approached the band informing them that he'd never scored three goals in a match.

However, his memory appears to be flawed as he DID indeed score a hat trick for Leeds against Blackburn back in 1993:
