For the Disney movie the music was composed by Alan Menken and lyrics were written by Howard Ashman. For the Broadway musical based on the Disney film the same songs and music were used and Tim Rice also wrote the lyrics for a few additional songs, such as "If I Can't Love Her" and "Me."
