Best Answer

A CDM coordinator is a construction health and safety specialist, and should be qualified and experienced to meet the competency criteria set out in the Approved Code of Practice published by the HSE.

The CDM coordinator should act independently of the other roles in order to carry our their duties and advise the client.

It is possible to have more than one role, for example a principal contractor can also have designer duties, or a client can also take on the role of CDM coordinator (this is the case if they fail to appoint one, or if they appoint themselves).
