The longtime "voice of Tigers football" (in his 29th season) is announcer Jim Hawthorne, a 1967 graduate of Northwestern State and a 38-year radio veteran. Hawthorne also does radio broadcasts of LSU Baseball in his position as LSU's Director of Broadcasting.

As of 2011, he was joined in the booth by color analyst Doug Moreau, a former star player and district attorney for East Baton Rouge Parish. The sideline and injury reports are provided by Gordy Rush, a receiver and kicker for LSU in the 1960s, in place of Jordy Hultberg, the sideline coordinator for Cox Sports.

*Hawthorne should not be confused with Southern California's radio personality and KOA Radio general manager Jim Hawthorne (1918-2007)
