For an archer to be precise but not accurate, they would be hitting very close to the same spot each time, but they would not hit the center of the target.

If an archer were told to hit a bulls-eye target dead in the center, and instead hit the same spot on the blue ring of the target three times, he would show excellent precision, hitting the same spot three times, but poor accuracy, missing the bulls-eye. If, instead, he shot his three arrows within the black bulls-eye but rather spread out over the bulls-eye, he would demonstrate good accuracy and only decent precision.
