∙ 14y agoAfter Super Bowl XLI, the count is NFC 19, AFC 18 with the first four split 2-2.
As of Superbowl XLI in 2007, NFC has won 21 and AFC has won 20. Counting Superbowl I,II, and III which was AFL vs NFL. Also the NY Jets were in the NFL at the time they won Superbowl III and now they are AFC. so it makes it hard to say which conference has won more, because of all the changes in the NFL through the years.
NOTE: for super bowls with conferences, I just count the teams that are in the AFC and NFC and see how many super bowls each team has, doing so the AFC has 19 super bowls, and the NFC has 23, as of the giants super bowl win in super bowl 42.

∙ 9y agoIn the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys, and in the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both have won their conference eight times. The Steelers went on to win six Super Bowls, while the Cowboys went on to win five Super Bowls. Dallas is technically incorrect. The NFL considers pre-Super Bowl "NFL Championship Games to be NFC Championship Games. Therefore, it is the NY Giants with 18 appearances in the NFC Championship Games (7-11 record). Dallas has appeared in 16 (8-8), with Green Bay and Chicago 14 each.
In the AFC, both Oakland and Pittsburgh have appeared in 14 AFC Championship Games (Pitt 7-7, Oak 5-9). Next best would be the San Diego Chargers with 9 (2-7).

∙ 13y agoSince the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, that would be the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers with 13 each. The Cowboys have won 8 NFC championships and 5 Super Bowls and the Steelers have won 7 AFC championships and 6 Super Bowls.
