You're thinking of Nadia Comaneci I bet, but she's Romanian...not Russian. Soviet Nelli Kim scored the second perfect ten in Olympic competition seconds after Comaneci did, if that helps. But probably not what you were looking for.
Nadia Comaneci has scored a perfect ten seven times.
Well, there's definatley A LOT of famous gymnasts but I would have to say the most famed is Nadia Comaneci because she not only scored the first perfect 10 in history, but she scored 10's again and again! A lot of people know her and her accomplishments even if they don't do/watch gymnastics and that is why I think she is the most well-known gymnast in history.
She was a gymnast in the 1996 Olympics. She scored a perfect 10 on the vault.
The first gymnast to gain the first ever Perfect 10 was Nadia Comaneci. Who was from the country of Romania. She was 14 years old at the time. She scored the perfect ten not once, but seven times during the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. Nadia now lives in the state of Oklahoma and is married to Olympic gymnast Bart Connor.
Here's one: At the 1984 Olympic Games, Mary Lou Retton received perfect scores in her final two events to win a dramatic victory in the combined exercises, becoming the first American woman gymnast to win an individual Olympic gold medal.
Nadia Comaneci of Romania. It was in the Uneven parallel bars.
Russian gymnast Nellie Kim also scored two perfect 10's in the same Olympics as Nadia on floor and Vault. Mary Lou Retton (coached by the same coach as Nadia) scored a perfect 10 on vault in the 1984 Olympics. Romanian Daniela Silivas scored a 10 on bars and a 10 on beam. Romanian lavinia Milosovici was the last gymnast to ever score a perfect 10 at the Olympics. She received the 10 on floor and the 1992 games. (Spread through team, optionals and compulsories)
There are many gymnasts that are very good, but very few that are outstanding. One Opinion: In my opinion the best gymnast is Nadia Comenechi. She scored a perfect 10 in the Olympics and then on 6 more apparatus she scored 6 more perfect 10s.
IT was Nadia Comaneci. When Nadia Comaneci, the Romanian gymnast, scored the first-ever perfect 10 in gymnastics at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the scoreboard was not ready for this perfect score and showed only 1.00. Seven perfect 10s helped Nadia win 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.
Which gymnast scored of 10
It was Julianne McNamara, wife of Former Baseball Player Todd Zeile.
a perfect score used to be 10.0 but they have updated the system and now a gymnast gets points based on the level of difficulty of their routine and also they get a score based on the traditional scale of one to ten. these scores are added together, and a VERY good score for an olympic gymnast would probably be a 17. gymnasts are not scored by how well they do, but rather they are scored by how many mistakes are made. for example, if you do a perfect balance beam routine, but you didn't point your toes three times, you can be deducted around 2 tenths for each foot each time. that means that if you didn't point both feet three times you could already be down to an 8.8! though, in the lower levels of gymnastics, all routines are the same for each level, so only a scale of one to ten is used. a perfect score is a 10.00
Ferenc Bene in 1964 12 goals

The Olympic skeleton is scored by racers who soar down the icy track headfirst at speeds approaching 100 mph.
It was 1984 when Mary Lou Retton first performed the Tsukahara vault in competition. It was at the Olympic games and she scored a perfect 10.
Nadia Comenici scored a perfect 10 at the 1972 Munich Olympics in the Uneven Paralell Bars. No, It was Albert Sequin at 1924 Paris Olympics for side vault. But him and the other 22 athletes to score a perfect 10 before Nadia were all male, so no one seems to give a sh#t
The first goal in Flyers' history was scored by Bill Sutherland.
