As of the 2007 season, since the NFL went to a 16 game regular season in 1978 there have been seven teams to finish the season 1-15:

1) 1980 New Orleans Saints

2) 1989 Dallas Cowboys

3) 1990 New England Patriots

4) 1991 Indianapolis Colts

5) 1996 New York Jets

6) 2000 San Diego Chargers

7) 2001 Carolina Panthers

No team has ever gone 0-16. The 2008 Detroit Lions became the first team to go 0-16 in the regular season. The only bright spot was the were undefeated in the preseason.

According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as of the start of the 2007 season, the Cardinals franchise has the most all time losses (regular season and playoffs) with 664 (458-664-39). The Lions franchise is second with 554 (488-554-32). As of the start of the 2007 season, that distinction goes to the Arizona Cardinals whose franchise record is 458-664-39 for a winning percentage of .411. The Cardinals began play in the NFL in 1920 as the Chicago Cardinals. The team with the second most losses is the Detroit Lions who have a franchise record of 488-554-32 for a winning percentage of .469. The Lions began play in the NFL in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans.

The record is losing all 8 away games, set by several teams since the 16-game season began in 1990.

The Detroit Lions lost all 8 of their road games in 2009 and 2008, and all 8 home games as well in 2008 (0-16). The Miami Dolphins lost all 8 of their road games in 2007 (1-15), but also lost their game to the Giants at London's Wembley Stadium, which counted as a "home" game. The Houston Texans lost all 8 of their road games in 2005. (2-14). The San Diego Chargers lost all 8 of their road games in 2000 (1-15).

*Due to Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Superdome was unusable for the 2005 NFL season. Since none of their games were actually played "at home" in 2005, the New Orleans Saints had the most "road losses" at 13 (3-13). However, only 7 of those losses were "on the road" at an opposing team's stadium.
