All Mid Major Schools are stepping stones. No one wants to be at that level for any extended period of time. The better schools for moving up seem to be Western Kentucky, Gonzaga (Mark Few could have any job in the country, but I think he is scared), Any school in the Missouri Valley Conference, UW Milwaukee just to name a few. Honestly, it is which ever mid major upsets or puts up a heck of a game against a heavily favored team in the NCAA tournament. Do that, and you can get any job and demand big time money.

Schools that have successful football programs that expect you to keep the winning tradition are schools that are stepping stones for coaches like Michigan, Notre Dame, and Alabama to name a few.
