A number of American League players have won back to back MVP awards. The last player to do it was Frank Thomas, he won it in 1993 and 1994. As for the other players that have done it. Jimmy Foxx was the 1st player to ever do it in the American League in 1932 and 1933, followed by Hal Newhouser 1944 and 1945, then Yogi Berra did it 1954 and 1955, followed by Mickey Mantle 1956 and 1957 and the last player to do it before Frank Thomas did it was Roger Maris in 1960 and 1961.
