while actually it all depends on what time you would like to run if your aiming for a 2:30 or something like that then the technique I use is go out hard the first 200 then ease up a bit let the pace settle den on the last lap pick it up but not too much you want to save some energy for the last 150/200 on the curve if your conditioned enough sprint out the whole 200 but if your'e not then accelerate into it and try to sprint out the last 100 meters.

If you are aiming for about 2:00 it is basically an all out sprint.

Last year as an 8th grader i ran a 2:13 and so when i raced the first 100m is close to a sprint to get out hard so others have to waste their energy to get around you. And for the next 400 meters just keep a pace that's not a sprint but fast enough to where your not losing the pack. I was usually behind the top 3. When you cross the 400 mark keep the pace and when you hit the 500 mark start to steadly build up your speed and once you hit the 600 mark from there its an all out sprint. Whoever has the heart and will power. The most important parts of the race are the beginning and end.

Pretty much you try to get out as fast as you can out the first 100, then all u have to do is camp out behind the person in first place and make sure that you don't lose them. Be smart let that person set the pace and in the last 200 hundred meter that's where you put all the hard work that was done in practice to use and try to outkick everyone. Make sure you don't lose your form.

I have an 800 meter race tommorrow and I am drinking a lot of water and getting a good night sleep tonight. Today I ran, but not a hard practice. Also, I would eat healthy before your race, but do not eat too much. Striders and stretching also help you before the start of a race. Do not get too nervous. This race is about your personal best, so do the best that you can, and don't freak out if you don't PR, everyone has a bad race sometimes.

I have an 800m race too; I have had a few practises: keep a steady pace with longer strides and safe some energy for a sprint at the end. Drink plenty of water, and eat healthy foods; get at least 3 good night sleeps! On the day keep yourself hydrated, and have a light lunch-don't run on an empty stomach and don't eat too much. You are racing against yourself so do your best, don't let anyone get you down because at least you tried. Good luck!!

by training hard.

Try running more distance because that is wat my track coach is doing. We run an average of 6 miles a day. Sometimes we just run about 10 repetitions of 800m other times we just do distance and sometimes we do sprints. Each helps in its own way.

many people say its a distance run but yet i would say its definatly a sprint i would do repeat 400's on a monday then 3-4 miles on Tuesday then 200 repeats on wednsday then thrusday stretch and Friday you will be ready but so you know you need to get about a 57-60 second first lap then all out on the second.....goodluck

It's not a distance run, but you should still do about 2 long runs a week at jog pace. But still make sure to get about 4 speed sessions like sprint a lap jog a lapx4. 300ms are good for the 800m.

I think the best thing to do is stretch each part of you body for 10-20 seconds each part, to ensure you are fully warmed up go for a quick walk, jog, run and sprint burst for about 2 minutes gradually work your way up to a sprint burst, but only do this warm up once as you will get tired- remember it's only a warm up :)
