Lionel Messi did in fact attend school in his early years, but then he got chosen to play for Barcelona due to disability (they agreed to give him the right treatment for free if he played for their junior squad). He moved to Barcelona and I'm guessing they sent him to one of their special schools, although he would have missed a lot due to his treatment taking up most of his childhood.
