In US professional football (NFL) , the ball is spotted at the 2-yard line, the same location as the line of scrimmage for a kicked extra point (which actually travels 15 yards, from near the 5 yard line to the goalposts).

The NCAA (College Football) places it at the 3-yard line.

Canadian football places the ball at the 5-yard line.

### How can the universe expand if its never ending?

Think of the surface of a ball. We'll make it a stretchy, inflatable ball. It has no edges or corners, but the surface area is limited, and if we inflate the ball, the surface area gets bigger. A two-dimensional creature living on the surface of the ball as it was being inflated would see that it was getting bigger, but would not be able to detect any edges. He also wouldn't be able to point to a spot and say "that is the center", because the center is the center of the ball, which is not in the surface and he can't point at any spot that isn't in the surface. That's about what we think the universe is like, except in more dimensions.

Spot welding is known as resistance welding because the the two pieces of metal melt together at the point of highest resistance to current flow, basically when the electricity flows through the pieces it heats up at the point of highest resistance that is where where the metal pieces touch and in a direct line from the two contact tips on the spot welder.
