∙ 11y agoAs the name suggests, there are 4 teams and therefore 2 games in the Final Four. The winner of those 2 games then play for the championship.
There are 32 games for each conference. Then when there are 16 teams left, they all play each other until there are 8 teams. Then the 8 teams play for the final 4. And then the final 4 play, and the final 2 play for the Championship.

The word semifinal is usually used with sports touraments. A semifinal would be one of two matches played where the winners would play for the championship. In college basketball, the Final Four games could be considered the semifinal of the NCAA tournament. In MLB, the League Championship Series could be considered the semifinal of the playoffs. In the NFL, the Conference Championship games could be considered the semifinal of the playoffs. In each of these instances, there are four teams left in the playoffs and whoever wins the games will play for the championship.
The Final Four are the last standing teams of March Madness in either NBA or NCAA basketball. There are two final games involving the Final Four, two games involving two of the Final Four teams. The two teams that win each of the Final Four games move on to the National Championship, the final game of the season (for NCAA).
