In 1903 at the Russian Social Democratic Party (RSDP) Congress in Brussels, Belgium. Although Lenin had followers who formed a radical faction of the RSDP, the faction was not named Bolshevik until then. His radical faction was in the minority of the RSDP, however he angered certain members of the Congress who then walked out, giving Lenin a temporary two vote majority. He quickly named his faction "Bolsheviks, which means majorityites. The name was kept even after the members who had walked out returned and put Lenin's majorityites back into the minority.
