It was first built in 1999 in Australia. It was being tested during 2008 off Fremantle, Western Australia. A float on a pump moves up and down in the waves, pumping water ashore where it is used to generate electricity or remove salt from water (desalination).

Describe how forces start a wave?

by definition a wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another. a force transfers energy and creates a disturbance therefor creating a wave http://seagrant.uaf.edu/marine-ed/curriculum/images/stories/grade7/wave.jpg

Wave that can transfer energy through the vacuum of space?

electromagnetic waves

What is the quantum wave model?

the quantam wave model is derived from the work of two physicists. One was Max Planck who proposed the idea of the quanta (discrete packets of energy) and the second of Albert Einstein who proposed the idea of light having both, particle and wave like properties. Hence the name "Quantam Wave".

What determines if a sound is loud or soft?

The determining factor as to the softness or loudness of a sound is the amplitude of the sound wave. We know that sound is mechanical energy, and a source of sound will put mechanical energy into the medium through which it is going to travel. Let's look at the wave. The mechanical wave has a compression phase and a rarefaction phase. In compression, the source compresses the medium to impart energy. In the rarefaction phase, the source will act to decompress the medium. The sound will propagate outward in a series of compression and decompression phases. The difference between a loud and a softer sound is the degree to which a medium is compressed and rarefied during the process by which the sound energy is put into the medium. Fortunately there is a question (and an answer) that goes into this in a bit of detail. It is linked in the Related questions section.

Will CETO wave energy run homes not just the desalination plant?

Yes CETO will be able to power both hydro electricity generators and desal plants - any proportion of either. Eg; 20% desal, 80% electricity.Essentially they have a 1000psi salt water supply, and they can choose to direct/split that anywhere they like.Very high potential technology IMO, not least because of the booming popularity of desalination plants around the world.

Any wave carries energy.

Is the Pro Wave energy system a hoax?

The Pro Wave energy system is a form of bioelectric purifier, also called zappers. In general, and not talking about Pro Wave specifically, they claim that they are useful for cleansing the body of harmful bacteria and viruses. Though some say they will not work, many people who have used them have found they do work.

What does the energy of the wave pulse depend on?

The energy of the wave pulse depends on wave length and frequency.

What transports energy?

A wave transports energy. The greater the energy, the greater the amplitude of the wave.

When A wave transfers energy true or false?

The answer is true. The greater the energy the greater the amplitude.
