Collier, a double threat at the University of Southern Mississippi because of his passing and running skills, joined the Dallas Cowboys during the 1986 season. He started one game, the Cowboys' season finale at Texas Stadium against the world champion Chicago Bears. Collier, who played in the first and third quarters, was overwhelmed by the Bears' defense. He threw two interceptions, was sacked three times and lost three fumbles. He completed four of nine passes for 44 yards and rushed for 32. Chicago won the game, 24-10.
