2006 i belive
In 2006, the Mets went 97-65, tying the Yankees for the best record in baseball. They then went 6-4 in the postseason, good enough to go home after a devastating game 7 loss in the NLCS.
The Yankees last winning championship game was on October 26, 2000 against the New York Mets. The Yankees won in 5 games
The Mets' most wins in the regular season is 108 (with 54 losses), in 1986. Including the postseason the Mets won 116 that year, which at the time stood as the highest total since the 1906 Cubs. This accomplishment is somewhat misleading (and therefore widely ignored). Before 1969 there was no League Championship Series, and in 1975 (when the Reds won 108 regular season games, the LCS, and the World Series) the LCS was a best of 5 series. The 1998 Yankees, with the benefit of 3 postseason rounds, managed a remarkable 125-50 record including the postseason. They went 114-48 in the regular season and 11-2 in the postseason.
Mets. Yankees suck. I like the Mets!
The last World Series appearance for the New York Mets was in 2000 when they lost to the New York Yankees 4 games to 1.
2000 "Subway Series" ...Yankees beat the Mets. The last Yankee's World Series win was in 2009 against the Phillies.
It is a matter of personal opinion. Someone who supports Yankees will say Yankees. Someone who supports Mets will say Mets.
The last time the Mets swept the Yankees was a series at Yankee Stadium in '08. Originally from May 16-18, it was played on May 17, 18, and June 27 due to a rainout on the 16th.

Joe Torre managed the Mets in 1979. This was before he became a genius managing the Yankees to 4 World Series wins. This was a little reminiscent of Casey Stengel, who managed the Mets after he had been a genius managing the Yankees to World Series titles. Torre duplicated Stengel's last place finishes, but without the fun.
The Mets went 97-65 in the regular season in 2006. Including the postseason they were 104-69.
T I do agree that the yankees are better in the long run but right now the mets are doing better.
