thats just the rules, have you ever seen 23 players play football, NO and because the court will be too small
because if you got so many players out on the court at one time it would cause a whole bunch of caios and plus theres only two ref's
because back then they would have up to 14 people on the court so they narrowed it down to 5.
Basketball teams have way more players than 5. Like they have starters,people that play in the second quarter(idk what they are called)and bench warmers. 5 people just play at 1 time.
Depending if ur in a real team but most of the time for a league it would be 11 but for people who aren't on a team it would most likely be 7
