Jim Waugh and Nick Koback were teammates on the 1953 Pirates. Waugh was on the 1953 Pirates for the entire season and Koback debuted for the Pirates on July 29 against the Cardinals. I was not able to find box scores for any 1953 games but was able to find schedules. The Pirates played the Cubs in Chicago July 31, August 1, August 2, and September 9. Koback played only 7 games for the Pirates in 1953 and only 16 games in his entire MLB career. I can't be 100% absolutely sure, since box scores are not readily available, but I would guess that the two players were on the Pirates for the July 31 - August 2 series against the Cubs in Chicago.

It is calculated with the formula (Hits + Walks + Hit by Pitch) / (At Bats + Walks + Hit by Pitch + Sacrifice Flies). In 1953, Nick Koback had 16 at bats, 2 hits, 1 walk, and was hit by the pitch 0 times. Sacrifice flies weren't counted before 1954. That gives him an On Base Percentage of .176. Slugging Percentage (SLG) is a popular measure of a batter's power. It is calculated as (Total Bases) / (At Bats). Another way to look at it is (Singles + 2 x Doubles + 3 x Triples + 4 x Home Runs) / (At Bats). In 1953, Nick Koback had 16 at bats, and hit 1 single, 0 doubles, 1 triple, and 0 home runs, for a .250 slugging percentage. On-base plus slugging (OPS) is a sabermetric baseball statistic. The best hitters in Major League Baseball can achieve an OPS of .900 or higher. In 1953, Nick Koback had a .176 On Base Percentage and a .250 Slugging Percentage for an OPS of .426. Runs Created (RC) is a baseball statistic invented by Bill James to estimate the number of runs a hitter contributes to his team. There are a number of formulas used to calculate it. One of the simplest is (On Base Percentage) × (Total Bases). In 1953, Nick Koback had a .176 On Base Percentage and 4 Total Bases for .71 Runs Created.
