The Triple Crown races in US thoroughbred racing for 3 year old horses are:
The Kentucky Derby - 1 1/4 miles
The Preakness - 1 1/8 miles
The Belmont Stakes - 1 1/2 miles
For a horse to win the Triple Crown, it must win all 3 races.
Contrary to popular belief, Man o' War did not win the Triple Crown in 1920. He won the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, but did not run in the Kentucky Derby.
