∙ 15y agoThe Bolshevik Revolution, also referred to as the October revolution, was a communist uprising by the Bolshevik party of Russia. After the abdication of Nicholas II in March 1917, (referred to as the March revolution), a provisional government had been established to rule Russia, however World War I was in progress and their system of government was weak. This led to much unrest, only increasing support for the Bolsheviks, although they were by no means the majority revolutionary party. The revolution created a Russian communist state which was originally led by Lenin, who was proceeded by Stalin, most famous for the great terrors (huge purges during the 1930's where between 600,000 and 1,500,000 Russians died). The communists stayed in power, despite lacking legitimacy, until they stepped down in 1991, returning Russia to a democracy. Hope this has helped, Cpl.Vadera
