What to do when you lost your Tae Kwon Do belt ranking certificates?

Contact the instructor, school, or organization that issued the certificate, and ask if you can get a replacement certificate issued. You might need exact dates of your promotion test, and other details, plus there will likely be a fee for a new certificate.

You might be able to get replacement certificates issued by contacting the instructor, school, or organization that issued the original certificates. There might be a fee for printing the replacement certificates, but it should be considerably less than the initial fee to attain the rank.

If the source that issued the certificates is unable, or unwilling to replace them, then another option is to train at a new school where the instructor might be willing to provide back-dated certificates if you can verify your training to their satisfaction.

If none of the above works out, it might be necessary to move on with your training, and not worry about the past, or papers lost. Make a new beginning, and focus more on the knowledge and skill. Proper credentials are important in any field of expertise, but if those who issued them refuse to re-issue replacement certificates, then either you really screwed up and need to move on and do better in the future, or your previous instructors are not worth the trouble of getting a document with their name on it.

Note: It is a good idea for all students and Black Belts to make copies of your certificates in case anything happens to the originals.
