The team that has the worst record for the season is awarded the #1 draft pick.
Not sure if it transfers into real life, but in madden 2011 (Which is has been very accurate on the rules of the NFL) the maximum number of draft pick one team can have is 9.
It means the team can get any draft number, regardless of if it's a lottery pick or not.
It will be the team with the worst record, barring a trade or penalty.
At the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Wild announced the trade of Burns and the team's 2012 second round draft pick to the San Jose Sharks for Devin Setoguchi, prospect Charlie Coyle, and San Jose's 2011 first round pick. The Wild selected Zack Phillips with the pick it acquired.

The St. Louis Rams traded with the Washington Redskins for the #2 draft pick.
No you can not. If you do not enter the lottery(the Draft) then you are a free agent and can be picked up by any team and signed.
In the 2010 NFL Draft, that is the Washington Redskins.
Correct. And the team that wins the Stanley Cup gets last pick.
The term 'conditional draft pick' refers to when A) there is a trade, and B) compensation will be a draft pick, and C) which pick it will be is based on the performance of the traded player and/or his new team. An example would be the Donovan McNabb trade from the Eagles to the Redskins in 2010. The Eagles received the Redskins #2 pick in the 2010 draft and a conditional pick in the 2011 draft. The Eagles will receive either the Redskins #3 or #4 2011 draft pick based on the following conditions: 1) whether McNabb makes the Pro Bowl in the 2010 season, or 2) whether the Redskins make the playoffs in the 2010 season, or 3) whether the Redskins win 9 games in the 2010 regular season If one or more of the three conditions above comes true the Eagles will receive the Redskins #3 pick. If none of the conditions comes true the Eagles will receive the Redskins #4 pick.
A typical snake draft, in which the team that drafts first in round one drafts last in round two is felt to give an advantage to the team that holds the first overall pick due to the drop off in talent for the team drafting last in the first round and due to the team with the first overall pick getting 3 of the top 21 players (in a ten man league.) In the afore mentioned ten team league, the first team gets draft picks 1, 20 and 21 (average 14) while the last team to draft gets picks 10,11 and 30 (average 17) which works out to an average of three draft spots per round (as well as getting the best player in the league with the first pick.) The Single-slant Snake draft is an attempt to alleviate this discrepancy. In the single slant draft, the first two rounds remain as in the standard snake (i.e. 1&20 or 10&11.) However, instead of reverting back to the team with the first pick getting the 21str pick in round three, the draft order repeats from round 2, giving the team that drafted last in round one the FIRST pick in round 2 AND 3 while the team that had the first overall pick gets the LAST pick in round 2 AND 3. In this case, the team with the first overall pick gets picks 1, 20 and 30 (average 17) and the team that drafts last gets picks 10, 11 and 21 (average 14.) This method is intended to provide entire roster equity because of the huge value difference between the first and last pick of the first round. Testing shows that even with the single slant method, the team with the overall number one pick still maintains an advantage, just not as large as in a standard snake draft. Testing also shows that if the slant draft is repeated (double slant draft) for an extra round (team with last pick in first round gets first pick in rounds 2, 3 AND 4, the team with the last overall pick in the first round has an advantage. In summary, the single slant snake draft is closest to balanced of the three methods and the first pick overall still has an advantage, albeit a smaller one.
each year the nfl holds a draft of eligible college players. the draft is configured so that the team with the worst won-lost record gets to pick first in the draft (unless the team has given that pick to another team thru trades, etc)the teams have rounds (8) which they pick the player they want . free agents have two catergories undrafted college players and nfl players whose contract with their team has expired or the team has let go. a signed free agent either pro or college has contract that binds him to that team.

Each team has the opportunity to pick 7 players during the draft. The draft is comprised of 7 rounds, with each of the 32 teams getting a chance to pick one player during that round. Teams can trade picks to other teams during the draft, so the amount drafted by each team can change from year to year.
