In the Northeastern US: Pro Sports: # 1 Baseball, #2 Football, #3 Basketball, a very distant #4 was Hockey (almost nobody cared about hockey). College Sports: # 1 Football, #2 Basketball, #3 Track & field, #4 Baseball, college hockey was not an issue in the 50's. High School Sports: Same as College except switch #3 and #4. Hockey:unheard of in High School.

Mate... Baseball and Basketball were very popular back in the 50's! Haha, because I'm an old fart. Also basketball was pretty popular too.
