There are a verity of traditional Japanese sports participated in today in organized fashion. This answer will focus exclusively on sports of Japanese or Ryukyuan origin and ignore Western sports like baseball, various forms of racing like cycling and motosports, volleyball, and football ("soccer" for the Americans) just to name a few that are very popular in today's Japan.

Like sumo, many of them are martial arts with sport components. Some of these martial arts are armed styles. For example kendo (剣道) is a national sport that is gaining in international interest. if you are unfamiliar with the basic nature of this sport, it is discribed as a form of Japanese Fencing, it's modern form being based on the older sword styles much like the evolution of modern fencing from old European sword-fighting techniques. Another is kyudo (弓道), which is a form of competitive archery.

Most of the popular martial arts best known outside of Japan are the unarmed styles. These include but are not limited to karate, judo, and akido.

An old, but occasionally still played game is known as kemari (è¹´éž ). Kemari is a non-competitive game originally played in the Imperial Court. The object of the game is for a group of players to keep a ball in the air for as long as possible, striking it with any part of the body excluding the hands. Some of the readers may recognize this as being simmilar to the game of footbag or hacky sack. One major difference though is that kemari is today played in costume based on period Court formal wear, undoubtedly adding to the difficulty. Today, it is usually played at festivals at various shrines and temples.

Sumo, Kunfu, and running.

___

Sumo is correct, but "Kunfu" is Chinese, and running is certainly not a traditional Japanese sport.

Sumo, Kendo, karate, judo, most traditional Japanese sports are combative in nature, simply because of their history.

Short answer: none, all Japanese sports have origins in the future.

However, this is a fact that is incomprehensible to the human mind due to the irrational belief that "time-travel" is not possible.
