Following the victorian era(the late 1800s) was the turn of the century, the Edwardian era. Many people will suggest that fashion did not change remarkably through these two eras; however, I beg to differ. The victorian era proves to be one of the most highly interpreted eras through film and fashion. It seems that people are most fascinated by this era, and therefore, more people obtain a basic understanding of the aesthetics. But what about the Edwardian era? The Edwardian era encompasses the same modest qualities of the victorian era; however, clothing was simplified. Unimaginably large bustles were minimized, hoops became more narrow, shoulders were less exaggerated, the corset was less severe, the hats were slimmer and more simple, the parasol remained, the small handbags remained, shoes showed little sings of change, colours and patterns were similar; however, fabrics simplified. The Edwardian era was one of great innovation pertaining to various aspects of life: cars, science, and psychology. With these changes too came the evolution of fashion.
Middle class women in the victorian era played lawn tennis and it was popular. Women didnt usually play sport in era, especially if they were'nt in the middle class, only men played sports. Men played mob football and then different sports throughout the years. women gradually started to play sports around the 1900s.

The Edwardian era followed the Victorian era and it was during the rule of King Edward Vii. He ruled between 1901-1910. The Titanic movie can help provide an understanding of the social classes and the way people dressed back then.
The Secret Garden was written at the end of the Edwardian Era. Although first published in its entirety in 1911, The Secret Garden had been released in serial form in 1910. This was the last year of the Edwardian Era which spanned from 1901 to 1910.
