Ukrainian, but it is actually pronouced "Did" or "did-oos" Didi seems to be a Canadian-Ukrainian version as that is what I called my Grandfather. (I'm Canadian-Ukrainian.)
Abuelito actually means grandfather, not grandmother. . . just a slight correction. This poem is a nostalgic remembrance of a person who was special to the narrator, and the person (the grandfather) seems to be failing in health. She is remembering the times she had with him...
