For a man 28 is the highest handicap you can have, so anything over 28 over par will give you a 28 handicap. Say CSS = PAR every week, you will need to consistently shoot 27 over par to get cut to 27.

In golf can you consider a handicap score of 16 respectable?

A handicap of 16 is respectable if you aren't planning on trying out for the PGA. A 16 handicap says your average score is 16 shots over par for that course.

How is a scratch game scored?

The same as you score any game of bowling. A scratch game means no handicap is involved. Your total for a scratch game is the same as your score for the actual game you bowled. Your total for a handicap game is the actual score you bowled plus your handicap.

If you have a handicap of 36 and your scored 30 over would your handicap get cut?

You must be a lady golfer, as the maximum handicap for men is 28. But, it all depends on the competition scratch score. If the c.s.s was equal to par, your exact handicap would get cut by 6x0.4 = 2.4. So if you played off 36.0 you would get cut to 33.6 (34).

How do you score with 28 handicap?

On the stroke holes 1-10, you will be given two extra shots. On the stroke holes 11-18, you will be given one extra shot. This adds up to 28 extra shots, which is your handicap. Please note that stroke hole 1 does not mean the first hole. Stroke hole 1 means the hardest hole on the course, and it should say on your scorecard what the stroke for each hole is. If you want your net score, take your gross score and subtract 28.

How do you score a plus handicap golfers scorecard?

If a player has a plus 2 handicap say, you calculate their gross score and then add their handicap to it, instead of taking it away. Points wise, they will get no shots, but the difference is to get two points on the stroke index holes 1 and 2 they will need to make birdie, a birdie effectively becomes par on these holes.

What average golf score do you need to reach a 9 handicap?

Well it is hard to say, if you told me what your handicap was I could tell you what you needed to shoot to get down. If you kept shooting 8 over the standard scratch you would get down to 9 eventually. If you were getting your first handicap you would need to shoot a total of 27 over for three rounds, this would give you a nine handicap.

How could you - a 20 handicap - compete with an 11 handicap in skins game?

That is what the handicap system is for. On the holes ranked 1-9 on the stroke index (UK) or handicap holes (In US) you get one shot from him. That is if on one of those holes if you make a 4 and he makes a 3, you have a net score of 3 and tie. So essentially on the holes where you get one stroke you compare their gross score to your net score.

How do you use your handicap when playing stableford rules?

Normally you would play stableford against your personal par, so you would alter par according to your handicap. So if you had a 25 handicap you would add 1 to par on the 11 easiest holes and add 2 on the 7 hardest holes. So a double bogey on the #1 handicap hole would score like a par and score two points, a par on the #18 handicap hole would score like a birdie and score three points, while a triple bogey on the same hole would score like a double and score zero.See Rule 32.

Which is better a plus 2 handicap or a minus 2 handicap?

This is where someones handicap is less than 0. When you have your gross score you actually add your handicap on to calculate your nett score.

What does it mean to have a zero handicap?

A person with a zero handicap is also known as a scratch Golfer. The handicap system works as follows, you play a round, you shoot a gross score say 80, you have a handicap of 8, you take this away from your gross score and this gives you a nett score of 72. This is then set against the CSS to see if you get cut or go up. When you have a 0 handicap, you shoot 72, and you take away the handicap which gives a nett score of 72, which is again set against the CSS to see if you get cut or go up. A scratch Golfer is a very good Golfer who will usually shoot level par or better.
