Where can I find Hockey skates?

No equipment is really "the best". It all depends on what your style of goaltending is and what you would expect from equipment. For example, if you want a glove that could close quickly and have a secure grip, you may want a Reebok glove; if you want leg pads that can flex and close the 5-hole, you may want Vaughn.Hope this helped

When should you take off your skate guards before playing ice hockey?

When you're cleared of material that are eventually harmful for your skates (like gravel, dirt, sand, clay, mud etc.), and before you head out on the ice. I recommend keeping them on until you're in the player's booth and are standing on a rubber carpet or wood, as these material are not harmful. Note: If there's a rubber carpet leading from the changing room to the hockey rink, then it is not even needed to use skate guards.

Was Shane Peacock a hockey player?

If this is the same Shane from Enoch, then yes he was not only a hockey player but, a very good one. I played with Shane until I was about 12. He also played the level above me with older players and dominated there. He is the only player I have ever known to break the glass with his slap shot, and he did this in pee-wees.

When did rollerblades become popular?

The popularity of rollerblades really sky rocketed in the 1980s. Prior to that, inline skates (rollerblades) had been around for centuries, but the design had failed to catch on. It wasn't until 1980's when the founders of the Rollerblade Skate Company created the modern version of inline skates as a way to train for ice hockey during the warmer months. Their design took the market by storm and the popularity has only increased since then.

What were the hockey leagues before the NHL?

There were several professional hockey leagues before the NHL began in 1917. The NHL itself was comprised of members of the National Hockey Association, which began in 1909. The NHL was formed when the owners of member clubs couldn't force one of their fellow owners, Eddie Livingstone, to leave the league. The NHA was founded to compete with the Canadian Hockey Association, which also became an all-professional league in 1909; the CHA folded in January of 1910 when several of its member teams left to join the NHA. Lester and Frank Patrick formed the Pacific Coast Hockey Association in 1911, and successfully challenged the NHA for the Stanley Cup until it merged with the Western Canada Hockey League in 1924. Formed in 1921, the Western Canada Hockey League (known as the Western Hockey League in its final season) would continue play until 1926.
