Alex Cora, since Baseball started counting pitches in an at bat somewhere in the 80's. It was an 18 pitch AB while playing for the Dodgers against the Cubs. Matt Clement was on the Hill and Cora homered on the last pitch he saw, the 18th.

AnswerI haven't heard of anything close to that. Its about 24-29 Luke Appling is credited with 24. AnswerThe pitcher continues to pitch until the third strike or the 4th ball is thrown, or the ball is put in play. Theoretically it could be infinite.

As for the record, unfortunately no stats are kept. Anecdotally, Luke Appling worked a 24 pitch at bat once, which is supposedly the record.

This may not be the most, but it sure is alot... Cubs righty Matt Clement threw 18 pitches in an at-bat to the Dodgers Alex Cora in 2004. Ricky Gutierrez of the Astros had a 20-pitch at-bat against Bartolo Colon of the Indians on June 26, 1998. Cora hit a home run. Gutierrez stuck out.
