Countries will enter the Olympic Stadium following the alphabetical order in Mandarin (language of the host country), which is quite different from the one we use in most languages. One would expect Australia to be among the first countries to enter the Stadium but that is not going to happen since in Chinese, Australia is among the last letters of the alphabet, just close to Zambia, for example.
There is no order at the closing ceremony. The flag bearers and country name board bearers enter first in single file. Then the athletes enter, en masse, without distinction of country.
At the opening ceremonies, the countries march into the stadium in alphabetical order of their country's name in the language spoken by the host country. The exceptions are that the athletes from Greece are always the first into the stadium, out of respect to the home of the Olympics, and the athletes from the host country are always last into the stadium.
The athletes from Greece enter first and the athletes from the host nation (in 2010 that is Canada) enter last. In between, the athletes enter in alphabetical order of the country name as known in the host nation's language (in 2010 that is English). At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Greece will enter first, Russia will enter last, and in between the countries will enter in alphabetical order in the Russian language.
No Greece is the first one to enter because they discovered Olympia so they go first then it's in alphabetical order.
In alphabetical order of the host country's language so it isn't always the same. The exceptions are Greece which always goes first and the host nation which always goes last. So in 2004 there was an exception to the exception because Greece was the host nation.
The Beijing National Stadium in China is also known as the Birds Nest. It was designed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The design originated from the study of Chinese ceramics and used steel beams in order to hide supports for the retractable roof, giving the stadium the appearance of a "Bird's nest".
This question needs more context in order to be answered; for example does it refer to US counties or UK counties
in what order did rome concur counties
Unless someone knows Chinese, that answer is impossible to give. The order of entering the stadium at the opening ceremony is that Greece goes first, the host country (China) goes last, and in between the countries march in alphabetical order according to the language of the host country. Unless one knows what the countries are known as in Chinese it is not possible to know the order of entry for the opening ceremony. Actually this isn't true for these games. The athletes will enter the stadium by number of strokes in that countries name in the Chinese Language :)
Because Greece invented and held the first Olympic Games over a couple of centuries;the modern Olympics started in the 1800s and Greece has been given the honour of leading the nations march. Because the first Olympic Games held in 776 BC were held in Greece. These games are commonly called the 'ancient Olympics'. Because of that Greece is honored by being the first country to enter the stadium during opening and closing ceremonies.
